We all have character buried beneath our surface that is vast and deep. We simply need to let our dreams and thoughts be heard to release our energy and expand.

Summertime, Riot Time!

It’s August 30th and I feel I need to have one final summertime extravaganza! I flipped through a couple of my old magazines and found these, the pieces of my last attempt at a hot summer night. :)

DIY Ideas For The Om Home Challenged

String lights where a peaceful glow is absolutely necessary.

Simple canvas with gold leaf paint makes a statement.

Holidays require mood lighting and natural elements.

Make a boring dresser interesting with multiple colors of paint.

A painted vintage mirror makes it new again.

Slap-your-forehead simple and cheap for an outdoor sink.

Clear wine bottles (chardonnay anyone?) hold candle sticks for a party worthy centerpiece.

I'm thinking you tack string/twine to either side of the window and hang a valance using small clothes pins. Simple, cute, and pretty effortless, if you do it right.

Floating wall shelves for a bar stool height desk, other natural elements for storage, and the main reason I clipped this photo: the clipboard as easy display and organization idea. Nice light bulb!

Easy as dirt candelabra centerpiece.

An organic way to store the old dirty scrubber.

The Yoga

“When there’s too much stress and too much worry, you need to look inward. Read more. Think more. Trying to find the answer from outside yourself is nonsense.”
the Dalai Lama

There is a great article on Kripalu titled The Yoga of Money by Brent Kessel. A very interesting read about transferring our energy that we direct toward our practice and sharing it with being financially responsible.
"It’s not about how much you have or don’t have—it’s about what you think (and don’t think). The key to transforming money stress and worry into freedom, as with yoga asanas, lies in applying the yogic principles of self-observation and the cultivation of balance."

Cakes from Vegan Dad

INGREDIENTS
Makes 12
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1/4 cup diced onion
- 1/4 cup diced green pepper
- 1 celery stalk, diced
- 1 28 oz can chickpeas, rinsed and drained
- 1 tsp thyme
- 1 tsp paprika
- pinch of cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp hot sauce
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- salt and pepper to taste
- oil for frying

METHOD
1. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Saute onion, green pepper, and celery for 5-7 mins, until softened. Remove from heat.
2. Place chickpeas in a food processor along with the onion mixture. Pulse until chickpeas are no longer whole, but dont process them too much. Place chickpeas in a bowl and add spices, hot sauce, and parsley. Mix well. Add flour and cornstarch and mix well. Place in the fridge for 30 mins.
3. Heat oil in a frying pan over med/med-hi heat (around 350 degrees). Shape chickpea mixture into 12 patties and fry in batches, about 2-3 mins per side, or until crispy and browned. Flip a few times if they are browning too quickly. If you have trouble forming the patties, add some more cornstarch to hold it all together.
