I recently was the delightful recipient of a beautiful Singer sewing machine, past down from my Auntie Debbie to my Mother in Law, and then to me. I cannot depict enough how much I needed one! And when I say need, you ladies out there who sew, know what I mean.
Imagine sitting on the couch for a few hours and work on putting together a simple square bottom bag from scrap material. A project that lasted about three days. Immediately, a scene from "Happy Gilmore" comes to mind. The scene where Happy's grandmother is quilting. "My fingers hurt," she had said. "Oh, your fingers hurt? Well now your back is gonna hurt. Cuz you just pulled landscaping duty!" replied Ben Stiller's character, who was supervisor at the nursing home. Poor grandma.
No more are the days of daunting needle work to complete a craft. I have a Singer! And she sings a pretty tune. Thank you Auntie Debbie for getting a glamorous, computerized, techy version of such fine machinery. I can now add modest beauty to the world with my creations in a flash, or in at least a quarter of the time.
